A wreath of pink roses tied with ribbons sits at the centre of a pale ivory field scattered with rose sprays, inside a gold architectural frame with cut corners. Rose cartouches and acanthus scrolls fill the corners, and a deep red border with a leaf scroll finishes the carpet. A grand, formal design that fills a large room.

Hand woven in the Aubusson tapestry technique: a flat weave made entirely by hand, colour by colour, the same way carpets were woven in Aubusson, France in the 18th century. 100% wool, with no pile and no latex. Carpets from this workshop carry a label stating they use more than sixty shades of wool and take a team of designers and weavers over a year to complete.

Brand new and never used, yet vintage: it was woven decades ago and is no longer in production. Rare and one of a kind. Hand woven Aubussons of this size and detail are seldom offered. We have exactly one, and when it sells it cannot be reordered.

Room size 12' x 16' (actual size 12' x 16'). Flat and thin, so doors clear it and chairs slide easily, which makes it a natural choice under a dining table, in a bedroom or in a formal living room. Light enough to hang as a tapestry.

Bound and finished by hand. Use a rug pad to keep it in place, vacuum without a beater bar, and have it professionally cleaned. Ships rolled from our Deer Park, New York warehouse.

Type: Aubusson flat weave, hand woven

Material: 100% wool

Origin: China

Condition: brand new, never used (vintage)

Size: 12' x 16' (12' x 16' room size)

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0744/8143/4899/files/vintage-aubusson-rug-louis-philippe-rose-wreath-fa5037iv12x16-main-scaled.jpg?v=1791571351
