Eastern Oriental Rugs is a family-owned rug company based in Deer Park, New York, on Long Island. We have been importing, designing, and selling area rugs since 1979 — first as a wholesale supplier to design-trade buyers, and today as both a wholesaler and an online retailer at eorugs.com.

Every rug on our website ships directly from our 30 W Jefryn Blvd warehouse in Deer Park. There is no third-party fulfillment, no dropshipper between us and you, and no middleman markup. When you buy a rug at eorugs.com, you are buying it from the family that imported it.

Our Story

EORC was founded in 1979 by the Nabavian and Rahmanan families, originally importing handmade rugs from weavers in India, Pakistan, Persia, and Turkey for the U.S. wholesale design trade. Over four-and-a-half decades we have sold rugs to interior designers, retail showrooms, hotels, and major home-furnishing retailers including Wayfair, Overstock, Home Depot, Houzz, Chairish, and 1stDibs.

In 2004, we opened eorugs.com to sell directly to homeowners — bringing wholesale-trade pricing and the same hand-picked inventory to anyone redecorating their living room, bedroom, or dining room. Today the business is owned and operated by Rozi Rahmanan from the same Deer Park warehouse, continuing the families' commitment to authentic craftsmanship and direct-to-buyer pricing.

The Craftsmanship Behind Our Rugs

Every handmade rug in our catalog is built using one of two time-honored techniques:

• Hand-knotted — each knot is individually tied by hand to the rug's foundation. Knot density (measured in knots per square inch, or KPSI) determines the durability and intricacy of the design. A well-cared-for hand-knotted wool rug will last for generations and often appreciate in value.

• Hand-tufted — wool yarn is punched into a canvas backing using a tufting tool. This is a faster construction than hand-knotting, which makes hand-tufted rugs more affordable while still providing a handmade look and feel.
