Vintage Aubusson Flat Weave Rug, Olive Green Star Lattice

Vintage Aubusson with an olive green field covered in a lattice of pale links, pink stars and red diamonds. A bouquet of roses anchors the centre and four more sit in the corners. The border is a rich garland of golden vine leaves, grapes and wheat, inside a gold band and an olive edge. Warm, classic French colouring in the Napoleon III taste.

Hand woven in the Aubusson tapestry technique: a flat weave made entirely by hand, colour by colour, the same way carpets were woven in Aubusson, France in the 18th century. 100% wool, with no pile and no latex. Carpets from this workshop carry a label stating they use more than sixty shades of wool and take a team of designers and weavers over a year to complete.

Brand new and never used, yet vintage: it was woven decades ago and is no longer in production. Rare and one of a kind. Hand woven Aubussons of this size and detail are seldom offered. We have exactly one, and when it sells it cannot be reordered.

Room size 9' x 12' (actual size 9' x 11'10). Flat and thin, so doors clear it and chairs slide easily, which makes it a natural choice under a dining table, in a bedroom or in a formal living room. Light enough to hang as a tapestry.

Bound and finished by hand. Use a rug pad to keep it in place, vacuum without a beater bar, and have it professionally cleaned. Ships rolled from our Deer Park, New York warehouse.

Act quickly on spills by dabbing with a clean, dry cloth. For persistent stains, gently blot using a mild soap solution, then let the rug dry flat.

Use a handheld vacuum regularly, choosing the lowest power setting and avoiding the beater bar.

Initial fiber shedding is normal and will decrease with consistent vacuuming. Expect more shedding in the first few months.

When necessary, seek professional rug cleaning services.

Enhance safety and longevity by using a rug pad. This prevents slipping and protects both your rug and floor from damage.
